We traverse this diverse country from the Mediterranean to the Sahara, visiting spectacular Roman sites, all listed by UNESCO, mountainous fortified kasbahs and the shady forests of the north. We visit Kairouan, one of Islam's holiest sites and the area around Matmata, offering a dramatic 'lunar' landscape often used by Hollywood, also home to a number of troglodyte dwellings.
Heading south to Douz, the Gateway of the Sahara', we visit its museum to get an introduction to the traditions of the region's nomadic people, followed by an unforgettable experience of a camel trek into the desert.
This is a great trip to get a real insight into the history, culture and beautiful landscapes Tunisia has to offer.
