Off-the-Beaten Track Treks

In Peru, recent glacial retreat has opened up some new trekking trails; experience true wilderness trekking in the High Passes of Ausangate. The route is extremely remote and passes through the pristine Andean scenery of the Cordillera Villcanota Range.

Over in Uganda, our Mountains of the Moon trek takes you into the heart of the Rwenzori Mountains. You are unlikely to encounter any other trekkers in this African alpine area, although there is a chance you may glimpse a chimpanzee or two scampering through the undergrowth. If you’ve always dreamed of embarking on a serious trek in the Himalaya but can only get away during the summer months, our Grand Traverse of the Indian Himalaya provides the perfect solution. The route takes you across the Changtang Plateau from Ladakh to the rarely visited but magnificent Spiti area.

Of course, the Nepalese side of the Himalaya provides unrivalled trekking opportunities with magnificent views in every direction. If it’s a challenge you are after, a trek through the High Passes of Dolpo will take you to some of the highest inhabited places on the planet. Or how about visiting three countries and three Base Camps on one trip? Base Camps of Tibet will take you to the base camps of three of the world’s 8000m peaks – Everest, Cho Oyo and Shishapangma – on the Tibetan Plateau. Watching sun set on Everest’s North Face is bound to be a memorable highlight.
