Dolomites Winter Holidays
The Dolomites are located in the north eastern part of Italy and form a section of the European Alps. The famous French mineralogist Deodat de Dolomieu was the first to describe the dolomite rock, which is responsible for the characteristic shapes and colour of these dramatic mountains that change with each valley visited. During the winter, cross-country skiing is still the traditional mode of transport for those travelling between villages in South Tyrol. Along with the incredible Tyrolean food, jagged mountain scenery and varied loipe for classic and skate skiing, there is nothing else to wish for your next winter holiday.
Temperatures & daylight hours
Daylight hours are similar to the UK, but temperatures vary enormously depending on surroundings and altitude. During December and January, temperatures can be as low as -10ºC yet from February to March, it can be very warm on the snow (+5ºC). We suggest you check our Trip Notes for your chosen destination or our latest snow report.
