Winter Activity Holidays in Finland
Just 3 hours away from the UK is one of Europe’s last true great wildernesses. With mile upon mile of snow-laden Taiga forest and glistening frozen lakes, Finland is the perfect playground for a huge variety of winter activities including cross-country skiing, dogsledding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Miles from civilisation, our wilderness lodges offer immediate access to some of Finland’s most remote regions including Oulanka National Park in the North-East and the Pallas-Yllas National Park high above the Arctic Circle.
Temperatures & daylight hours
Snow covers the ground in Finland from as early as October and lasts until late April, with the snow conditions at its best from December until the end of March. Temperatures can vary from around -30°C in the colder months to a mild -3°C yet in the arctic equipment provided (in most destinations), even -20ºC can be quite pleasant. In the height of winter the northern regions tend to see around 4-6 hours of daylight, which increases every month. It is at this time the night skies also become enriched with the brilliant displays from the Northern Lights.
