Activity holidays with Exodus
Exodus offer a whole range of activity holidays to suit your needs; whether you only know what you want to do, or you already know where you want to go. We work on the basis that we look for the best things to do in the best places in the world. You can pick an activity from our list of holidays below, and then choose your perfect destination from our reccomended places for these activities.
Exodus offer over 150 of the greatest walks and treks from all over the world. Some of our activity holidays are centred on trekking whilst others may simply contain a significant portion of walking days within the holiday itinerary. We cater to a wide range of abilities and all of our walking holidays have been graded for ability: you can take a leisurely Walking Holiday along Italy's Amalfi coast, challenge yourself on one of our Inca trail tours or even reach new heights and climb Kilimanjaro. It is important to always carefully read the brochure text and trip notes that accompany each holiday listing, as good fitness and stamina are required for some of the more demanding holiday activities.
One world, two wheels. Our cycling holidays come in all shapes and sizes; from gently cycling in the Dordogne region of France, tackling the high Atlas in Morocco as a part of a fully supported mountain bike expedition or exploring the unique cuisine and culture of South East Asia on two wheels. All our trips have been graded, with the percentage of on and off-road cycling and vehicle support outlined in each holiday profile. You need to ensure you are confident in your own fitness levels to take part in our cycling activity holidays.
For holiday makers looking for activity holidays with a splash of culture, look no further than Exodus. As well as offering holidays to the world’s best-known cultural sites- such as Machu Picchu, the Taj Mahal, the cities of Roma or Prague; we also offer trips to hidden gems such as the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an in China, the Monasteries of Lhasa in Tibet and the amazing Roman ruins of Leptis Magna in Libya. These sites might be lesser known and in some cases, less accessible, but they are truly some of the world’s greatest cultural attractions and cannot be missed. Whether you want to visit the great museums of Florence, the hidden city of Petra or the vast temple complex of Angkor Wat, Exodus will show you a different side to some of the world’s greatest cultural attractions.
Wildlife & Safaris Holidays
For a Wildlife holiday, why not head to Africa for a safari? Our safari holidays are activity holidays with a twist and can be based around walking, camping and even specialist safari skills trips. Or if you fancy something a little more unusual, you can journey to Asia and enjoy the fantastic spectacle of tiger watching in India, visit the Chitwan national park and experience safari on elephant back, or meet orang-utans in the jungles of Borneo. In the Americas, you can see the sloths and river dolphins of Peru’s Tambopata Reserve, or trace the footsteps of Darwin and view the numerous endemic species of the Galapagos Islands by boat. Holidays in this category may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
For an activity holiday with a difference, why not experience the world’s greatest wildernesses with Exodus? The deserts, the jungles, the plateaux, the tundra and the mountains of all seven continents are waiting to be explored by the adventurous traveller. Sustainable holidays are at the heart of what we do and we take special care not to damage the fragile ecosystems, as, by their nature, they are not designed for human habitation. We can take you to the Sahara, Atacana, Namib and Gobi desserts, the jungles of South and Central America, as well as Northern India and Central Africa, or the great mountain ranges of the Andes, Alps, Atlas, Himalaya and Outback of Australia.
Book a Polar expedition and explore the last pristine wildernesses left on the planet. They’re harsh, merciless environments of savage, eye-watering beauty. These days, holidays to the Arctic and Antarctic are a little less perilous than they were for Ernest Shackleton, holiday makers can explore the frozen continents in relative comfort and safety and return to our homes within 2 weeks. Of course, in keeping with our philosophy, it is essential that we protect these environments and in partnership with the ships operators apply the most stringent rules of minimum impact travel.
A large selection of Exodus adventure holidays with a little extra style and comfort, available in locations around Europe, Asia, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas.
For those clients who wish to travel with a group of other solo travellers, on certain trips we have set aside departure dates that are recommended for clients booking individually.
Solo departures are aimed at taking away that concern that you may be the only solo traveller when you arrive overseas.
Our winter activities programme is simple. It’s all about seeking out alternative ways to have fun in unspoilt locations, so you won’t find standard skiing or snowboarding breaks here. We escape the crowds rather than join them. The result is a fresh range of activities from snowshoeing to snowmobiling and dogsledding to cross-country skiing. If you really are looking for something different then you have just found it! This year marks an exciting year for Exodus as we have recently joined forces with Waymark Holidays, the UK’s leading provider of cross-country and Nordic skiing holidays. Their unrivalled experience and fabulous range of destinations and courses has added real depth to our Winter Activities offering.
Our range of cross-country skiing holidays is built on the success of Waymark’s award-winning cross-country programme - winners of the Guardian Observer Travel Awards for Best Ski Company in 2002, 2003, and 2006. By joining forces with Waymark, Exodus are pleased to bring you an unrivalled expertise and variety of trips to enjoy the art of Nordic skiing. Loyal followers of Waymark will see many of their favourite centres, and a wide range of grades for all abilities. Skiing Holidays from the Waymark collection are highlighted with a logo indicating ‘The Waymark Experience’.
A number of our Adventure Holidays delve off-the-beaten-track to explore out-of-the-way locations, while others visit well-known sites but involve an extended element of roughing it en route. The journey on these trips is not just about ticking off sites and attractions, but also about the adventure of exploring new landscapes, cultures and customs. Some are in purpose built expedition vehicles, allowing self-sufficient travel, and require an element of ‘mucking in’ as you will often be asked to help out with group tasks, while others require specialist skills to conquer some of the world’s highest peaks or most hostile environments.
We offer special interest holidays operated for people with a real interest and passion. Be it yoga or photography, all our holidays are run by the experts. We have used our extensive knowledge and experience to gather together expert leaders in many different fields in order to give our travellers the best experience possible. Trips may be solely aimed at those with an interest in one subject or a range of subjects, and can include specialist archaeology itineraries, solar eclipse departures, specialist conservation holidays or even trips led in Spanish.
Our photography holidays have been created with the photographer in mind. In all of our holidays, there are fantastic opportunities to get behind the lens of your camera and take those dream shots; however, our photography activity holidays are designed to get the best opportunities for the camera, with an itinerary built around taking advantage of the best light of the day as the sun rises and sets.
Exodus Cruise Holidays can feature expedition voyages on board ice class vessels to the polar regions, taking a River boat and travelling down the River Nile, sailing in Greenland and the Arctic Circle on a Schooner, or around the Galapagos Islands in a yacht to name a few. They have excellent facilities and great wildlife viewing opportunities. All of our cruise holidays take place in small groups, unlike the great Cruise Liners that roam the great oceans.
Our Multi-Activity Holidays fall into two categories, either they are designed to include the major highlights of the countries or regions we visit, involving a mix of activities en route, or are solely activity based itineraries, providing numerous opportunities for thrill seekers to try out new and exciting sports. Activities may range from the ordinary (for example walking or cycling, canoeing or white water rafting, to the extraordinary (caving, rock climbing, camel riding or canyoning). Specialist skills are required for some of these trips, but certainly not all; you should read the brochure text and accompanying trip notes carefully.
While at Exodus we enjoy our fair share of adventure and excitement, but we also know that gentler pursuits and a healthy dose of laid-back discovery can be just as appealing. Our Relaxed Itinerary departures, including trips from last year’s Leisurely Collection brochure, allow just that. You can now enjoy an adventure in your preferred destination or seek out intriguing and off-the-beaten-path trips at a more relaxed pace. Go on - discover the world in a little extra comfort!
