Five trekkers out of the nine reached the North Col summit yesterday, and 1 got to 7000m. The group is safe and well, currently resting up at Advanced B...

Probably the last hot shower for a couple weeks.Our view today on a quick acclimatization climb to 4000m. Love the stark contrast of the Himalaya up here. Tomorrow we go on a longer climb, possibly up to 5000m (16,400 ft).Valerie with the birthday cake...yum!Group in fullPanorama of our view over Nyalam. We tested the blood oxidation at the top and i was still at 93%, so that is looking great. Tomorrow we will drive to a small village at >5000m. Will stay 2 days there and then we will head to base camWe have arrived. Everest Base Camp on the north side feels deserted compared to the south, and the view out of our tents is unbeatable. Met a number of other teams and climbers today. Looking forward to -10 degrees tonight!Good morning from Everest Base Camp.Yaks are the only way to carry heavy supplies to Advanced Base Camp at 6400m (21,000 ft). We start heading there Wednesday. We have named one of our yaks Phil, after Phil Klein.Below Everest lies the Rongbuk Glacier, which has receded dramatically in the last 20 years. It's scary to think this could be largely gone in another 20.Beginning our climb up the North Col of Everest. 600m (2000 ft) of near vertical ice. Look for the black dots.Our view from Advanced Base Camp right under Everest at 21,000 ft. After 7 days and a successful climb to over 23,000 ft, we are all safely back down, with only blistered lips and weathered faces.This is how you climb to 7066 meters. Back on the Wagon

The Vietnam trip was good bit of a strange country and I must say a maybe a little bit quiet. Anyway it was nice to get some sun and be somewhere different for a couple of weeks and re-charge.

Hilly hike

I spent my Sunday hiking about the hills of Dorking. Luckily the sun came out and I got to test out some of my trekking gear. I realised that my waterproof jacket isn't waterproof so it will be another trip to the shops for me. Fitness wise I felt ok but even these steps made me tired. I think that last bit up Kili isn't going to be fun!...
