The team arrived in Dingboche

The team arrived in Dingboche this afternoon after a spectacular sunrise view this morning over Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Ama Dablam - most of the team saw the mountains - Paul was busy struggling to stuff his sleeping bag into its sac!

We walked up the valley towards Everest with great views of Ama Dablam all day. Arrived safe and sound in Dingboche just after lunch. We now have two nights here for acclimatisation and tomorrow we hope to hit 5000m as we climb to the summit of Nangkartshang ...

A solar cooker installed

Valerie and Sukman and the One Team left Kyanjuma for the climb to Thyangboche. After a tough climb up to Thyangboche at 3800m the team re energised themselves on chips before heading off to Thyangboche monastery to help the monks set up their solar cooker. Work finished we were all invited into the prayer ceremony for tea and prayers. The day ended in the mist with a mean card game when the One Team realised that playing cards with the Nepalis was maybe not the best idea! For me it is end of th...

One day behind schedule due to bad weather

One day behind schedule due to bad weather, but finally made Namche Bazaar. Capital of the Everest region and steeped in the myths of all the Everest climbs. The climb up from the valley bottom involved diving for cover in front a trains of Yaks carrying goods and climbing gear. Tomorrow we should be installing a ...

One Big Climb Update - Arrived Khatmandu met the team

Arrived Khatmandu met the team and discussed concerns, hopes, worries, kit and sport over supper. Off to airport early morning only to have a frustrating day listening to announcements of cancelled flights due to bad weather at Lukla. So another night in Khatmandu repacking and checking kit and more talk of all things Nepalese, African water pumps, the pros and cons of international raoming and sim cards and yes more sports as caught the highlights of the England Australia rugby at Twickenham...

One Big Climb - Only a week and a half to go now!

Only a week and a half to go now. When I signed up for this in the early summer, November seemed far far away! Now departure date and EBC are looming. Fitness OK, although untried, kit ready, excitment mounting.

The best part though is knowing we are doing this for a greater cause. Just had the first pictures back from ONE of the play pump Exodus has sponsored in Malawi. Now a school and a wider community have clean safe water to drink. A real practical difference on the ground.

1220 pupils at Utale Primary School and over 4500 villagers now have access to fresh, clean drinking water.Utale Primary School sent Exodus' staff a Message - “Zikomo” (Means thanks you in Chichewa)Children running out of school to play on the PlayPump® roundabout
