Training

At the time of writing, the trip status is "Guaranteed to run" with only "4 spaces remaining".  By my calculation there must be around a dozen people already signed up - surely I won't be at the back all day, every day?

Introduction

The trip - I've signed up for my first ever mountain bike holiday, or cycling holiday for that matter.  I will be spending my summer "holiday" cycling from Lhasa to Kathmandu, across 1000km of the vast geographical expanse of the Himalayas.  My kit bag will be crammed full of sunscreen and lycra, and my rucksack with cameras and chocolate.  It will be an exhausting, emotional and, dare I say it, 'spiritual' journey through the wilderness and Buddhist culture of the Tibetan homela...

second day cycling (day 4 of the tour)

At least the day went better from there!!! On the upside the weather was overcast and quite fresh which we all welcomed in place of the high heat and humidity we feared. On the downside we had cross winds ...
