I'm lucky enough to have guided many people to see their first Bengal tiger. Tears are frequently and understandably the reaction. Gordon Buchanan's tears on seeing his first high altitude cat were equally understandable last night on the final part of the BBC's Lost Land of the Tiger. 

Sticking with tears, I shed a few at 3am this morning as a new Goldstein was admitted to the fold. He already knows more about computers than I do, but that's not saying much.

Here's a thought: the BBC spend millions of license payers money on a documentary about the tigers of Bhutan and the execrable, moronic X-Factor will probably get twice the viewers at least. However does watching it twice double the viewing figures as I cannot remember being so captivated by a documentary, a flawed one but captivating all the same.
