A view from the boundry

In India on Wednesday there is the small matter of a cricket game. Some are saying it is literally a matter of life or death and that it will affect millions of people. My Antarctic Expedition - Day 8

What a difference a day makes. Following several days of generally grey, overcast skies we awoke to a whole new world. During the night the Sea Spirit had carried us across the Bransfield Strait and then up a channel which runs between the Palmer Archipelago and the Antarctic Peninsula. Normally it takes me a while to calm down from gushing wildlife documentaries which are full of romantic nonsense and ludicrously facile solutions. This week's fascinating rites of passage on BBC following Broken Tail's extraordinary last journey was superb.
