Snow Leopards galore

Just returned from the icy wilderness of Ladakh in winter with a group of 15 like minded people searching for the holy grail of big cats - the elusive Snow Leopard. Well what a trip and what luck - we had 16 hours of watching the beautiful animals (some in the group had 20 hours of sightings). We saw a mother and her young cub and a male and female. The weather was great - sunshine and snow and clear stary freezing nights - perfect training!!!!

Off to Nepal now and looking forward to Ap...

Training and packing

The group is now coming together and final preparations are underway around the world. We have team members from the UK, USA and Holland. Some are off preparing on volcanoes in South America, some skiing, some winter climbing on Mount Toubkal in Morocco. I mayself have been in the gym for the last 2 months spinning and combating. Now I am off to Ladakh in winter. The temperatures there will be down to minus 25C at night! and up to a chilly minus 4C in the day - probably good training for the col...

I did my first 50-miler today - actually it was 51.58 miles if I believe my bike computer, and 51.80 miles if I believe my GPS.  I think the GPS will always be more accurate ;-)  I also apparently burnt off 2500... shame I've probably just eaten twice that.

I took in t...

Sun has finally arrived

Well the sun has finally put in an appearance - but not enough for me to brave the short sleeves and shorts.  I was however brave enough to venture out around Edinburgh/West Lothian where there are real hills (well, sort of minor inclines really when compared to the Tibetan ascents).

A 30-mile round trip in the sun, with a stop off at the ice-cream shop... what more can a girl want?
