Walking in Trins August 2011

This was my first ever walking holiday and in short it was superb. One of the best holidays I have ever been on!

I was a little nervous about going, as this was my first time away as a single person and wasnt sure what to expect. The idea of  a walking holiday had always appealed to me but, I had never quite got around to booking one.

My level of fitness was reasonably good and was sure I could cope with either one or other of the 'B' or 'C' category walks. It was great, as t...

7 weeks to go!!

So I have realised I only have 7 weeks left to get ready for the ski marathon - a scary prospect. My training is coming along steadily - I managed to break the cross-trainer at the gym, I was aiming to cover 10km and the machine switched off at 9.8km! I also went to the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead with some friends, unfortunately not a place where you can practise cross-country skiing but it is great for snowboarding and skiing. Wearing my Christmas present to myself, a new spangley lycra number (if you can't beat them join them) we set off on the boggy tracks. Lesley has run several long distance races in her time and is signed up to do a...

Cross Country Skiing at Ramsau

I hope that when I go on a cross-country skiing holiday, the snow will be at my Austrian resort, not in the UK preventing my car from being driven to the airport.  When I went to Pertisau in 2009, the snow melted in Austria, but was dumped on the UK.  There are so many risks with a skiing holiday: Strikes by cabin crew, air traffic controllers, airport staff, terrorist action which does not bring down your plane, but causes the authorities to panic, illness particularly the flu you can get fro...
