Day 2 of AYT (Tunisia Explorer)

A sharp exit at 8.00 takes us to the first mosque in Kairouan, known as the barbers mosque, because it contains the mausoleum of one of the prophets companions who carried around three locks of the prophets hair with him. Some nice tiling. We then head over to the Grande Mosque. This is the oldest mosque on not Africa and at one time was considered the fourth holiest Muslim sight. Day 1 of AYT (TUNISIA EXPLORER)

Today is a religious festival so a change of itinerary.

We depart the hotel at 9.30 and our driver, Hedi, drives us up to Sidi Bou Said. Named after a holy man, this village near Tunis is perched on a hill. All the homes are painted white and their doors and other accessories pained blue. Some of the stone doorways are made from the remains of Carthage with mosaic surrounds.
