Up early this morning, and boy was it ewarly. 4.10 am Stefan and woke, the site was quiet and very peaceful. Creeping across camp with just our head torches was a challenge, but soon our peripheral vision became accustomed to the dark and we soon made our way to the gate where we were being collected by Nicholas.

Who's out there

Am booked on the Cuba trip starting 20th March 2011, & am really looking forward to it, particularly on a day like this when it's cold, grey & miserable here!  Would like to make contact with fellow travellers before we leave: so if you read this, get in touch.

My Antarctic Expedition - Day 8

What a difference a day makes. Following several days of generally grey, overcast skies we awoke to a whole new world. During the night the Sea Spirit had carried us across the Bransfield Strait and then up a channel which runs between the Palmer Archipelago and the Antarctic Peninsula. My Antarctic Expedition - Day 7

The Sea Spirit is just leaving Deception Island - lots of derelict buildings from whaling station plus hot springs, seals and penguins. Off to another site to see if we can land again this evening. We have 50% chance as this place very weather dependent. Am trying to hang on to every moment as all too soon will be over....

Trip confirmed

Well the trip to Lebanon and Syria has been confirmed for our September 18 departure. I do hope we meet some interesting people on the trip. I am looking forward to it very much....
