News from the GR5

I've just been out to check conditions on the first day of the trip from St Gingolph on the shores of Lac Leman to Chapelle d'Abondance in the heart of the Savoie Alps.  It was a beautiful day with stunning views back to the Lake as I climbed steeply to the first Col.  The flowers were fantastic, the cows strolled through the meadows and the cold drink at the Refuge de Bise was just what I needed after a long climb.  I climbed on towards the Passe de la Bosse and was rewarded by views of the ...

Sleeping under the stars in Jordan

I've just got back from a fantastic trip to Jordan. We slept under the stars in Wadi Rum with the full moon casting a beautiful light over the monolithic rocks. As we sat smoking the shisha pipe, we discussed politics and religion in the Middle East while we sat in peaceful surroundings, soaking up the atmosphere as well as the apple flavoured hubbly bubbly.

It's very sad that Jordan has suffered as a result of the neighbouring countries turbulence as it's a very peaceful and wester...
