Day 5 - Temple Time 2: Return of the Temples

After a great night of sleep, we had to be up and ready for 6:45am for our trip in Edfu.

Before I explain any further I must mention that last night the staff of the boat arranged a Galabia evening.  This was a party for the guests on board, with all dressing up in traditional Egyptian robes (Galabia).  With games, raffles and dancing, everybody joined in with the fun and had a really good time.  It was a really lovely way to end the day after dinner.  The staff are so warm and frie...

Day 4 - Tomb Town!

I think this may have been my best night’s sleep so far as the beds onboard are incredibly comfortable.  Good job as we were up at 6am, to be ready and fed by 7am for an early excursion to the famous Valley of the Kings (or Tomb Town as I like to call it!).

To get to the West Bank of the Nile, you usually travel by bus, which can end up taking two hours out of your day in total.  Instead, we took a small motor boat with an awning decorated in beads, colourful material and little fla...

A snowball's chance in 'Turkey'!

Day 3 - Temple Time...

Being honest, not much sleep was had on the train.  I think this was due to the fairly violent jolts that occurred a few times throughout the night.  However, the lady in the cabin next to me said she slept like a baby, so I guess it depends on the individual as to how tired you’re going to feel later.  Personally I may nickname the train ‘The Sleepy Train’ as it has made me exactly that!

Unfortunately, the train was delayed in getting to Luxor which meant that we would have to...

Day 2 - Setting the Scene...

Ready to meet our tour guide who would take us on our exploration of Egypt, we needed to be packed, fed and checked out by 10am.Breakfast in the hotel was a buffet, with the usual culprits: cooked breakfast, pastries, breads, cereals, fruits with juice and coffees a plenty - definitely a good way to start our first day.

After  a short meet with Sayed, our guide and Egyptologist for the rest of the tour, we headed to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities.  This was another fairly long dri...
