Exodus is delighted to announce an evening with Chrissie Wellington MBE, British Triathlete and four time World Ironman Champion from 2007 – 2011. Chrissie is the first British athlete to hold the Ironman Triathlon World Championship and is the only triathlete, male or female, to have won the World Championship less than a year after turning professional. She holds all three world and championship records relating to ironman-distance triathlon races: the overall world record, the Ironman World Championship course record, and the official world record for all Ironman-branded triathlon races over the full Ironman distance. While suffering from injuries so severe that her coach said she should ‘not even be on the start line’ regained the title in 2011. Both before and after her Ironman career she travelled and lived all over the world, most notably in Nepal where she spent a lot of time cycling. Here she developed a passion for cycling and exploring a country by bike, which is something she has continued to do. She has also spent time trekking in Nepal, SE Asia and New Zealand. Not only this, she is also inspirational to women all over the world and champions getting women into sport. This evening will provide an inspirational insight into what it’s like to achieve your aspirations through hard work and perseverance. Chrissie will talk about her life journey - including academic studies, travel, working for the UK government, her time spent in nepal as well as her life as a professional athlete. This is a free show - so simply fill in the request form to guarantee your place.
