Adventure Holidays to Dolomites
The Dolomites are located in the North Eastern part of Italy and form a section of the European Alps. The famous French mineralogist Deodat de Dolomieu was the first to describe the dolomite rock, which is responsible for the characteristic shapes and colour of these dramatic mountains. What is incredible is how the Dolomites change in shape and form depending on the different valleys visited.
During the First World War the line between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces ran through the Dolomites and many high level paths visited on our various walks show this fascinating history in all too much detail. On certain walks, we visit open-air museums and marvel at their excellent viewpoints across the Dolomite area. A number of long distance footpaths run across the Dolomites, which are called "Alte vie" (i.e., high paths). Such long trails, which are numbered from 1 to 8, require at least a week to be walked through and are served by numerous "Rifugi" (huts). Try our Dolomites Trek to truly get the feel of these incredible routes.
