Holidays to Spain
Adventure Holidays in Spain
Spain offers a great deal more than your typical package holiday in the sun. Its rugged, outdoors appeal is a big draw for active holiday makers hoping to beat the beachhoppers and enjoy scenic walking and challenging cycling on the sun-kissed Spanish earth.
Spain has carved out a unique identity for itself. It mixes Moorish magic with Spanish splendour, stunning interior landscapes with old-world majesty. If you had to sum up the national psyche in one word it would be passion - a constant thread through all things Spanish. Whether it’s the food, the wine or the small matter of supporting Barca or Real. With a landscape full of secluded valleys, stunning sierras, and scorching coastline no one region of Spain is quite the same. For all that Spain is a hugely popular holiday destination, you can still find yourself lost in the interior heartlands and not hear another English accent for weeks on end.
Adventure and Activity holidays in Spain – unforgettable Espana
Incredible scenery, sublime architecture, fabulous cities and wild undiscovered countryside – Andalucia has them all in abundance. The Sierra Nevada boasts rugged mountains, fertile valleys and forests of chestnut and oak. Ronda oozes old school charm and the cities of Granada and Seville parade exquisite Moorish art. This most diverse region should be a definite on any adventure holiday to Spain.
2 Picos de Europa
The Picos de Europa – literally meaning ‘Peaks of Europe’ – is the setting for some awesome limestone mountains and home to an astonishing diversity of flora and fauna. A comparatively small area on the Iberian penisula, the Picos is home to a large number of vultures, eagles and kites, not to mention the odd wolf or bear. Its wild scenery and spectacular limestone formations are the big draw for many visitors who come not just for the walking but also for activity holidays full of caving, canoeing, canyoning and climbing.
3 Mediterranean Coast
In the upland areas behind the seaside development of Benidorm, with its Manhattan skyline, lie the untouched hills of the Sierra de Aitana and the Valls de la Marina. These limestone ranges offer superb walking in a sunny but mild climate – a perfect escape in the winter months.
Look out for some of our themed weeks where you can learn Spanish or experience yoga in a peaceful Andalucian setting at the Cortijo Rosario lodge.
