The climb is tough but not technical and we use the Shira and Rongai, the least trekked trails on the mountain. As a contrast to the exciting game areas and the mountain Zanzibar is a beautiful jewel in the Indian Ocean. With a fascinating spice and slaving legacy, the crumbling Stonetown has streets full of character, and the beaches on the North and East coast are stunning. Whether it is diving, snorkelling, fishing, swimming with dolphins or just relaxing Zanzibar has few if any equals.

1 Trekking Holidays to Mount Kilimanjaro
The highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro rises three miles high above the plains, so high that even this close to the equator it’s still capped with snow. It has become especially popular because it’s highly walkable – allowing adventure nuts without much trekking experience the chance to take one of the most exhilarating holidays of their lifetime.
It’s not called Kili for nothing. Skive on the training routine and kill you it might! This is not a trivial trek but exceptional views, mountain beauty, contrasting climate zones as you ascend and an incomparable sense of achievement as you reach the “Roof of Africa” make every tough step worth it.
There are different grades of walks on Kilimanjaro but the altitude can make any of them tricky, no matter how fit you are. On Exodus holidays we allow an extra day to acclimatise which can make all the difference to reaching the summit.
