The Inside Passage is the trade route that winds its way through the multitude of islands off the coast of British Colombia into Southern Alaska. This entire stretch of coast is one of the world's finest wilderness areas and is particularly famous for its whales, bald eagles and bears. The south section is marked by fir clad mountains falling straight into the Pacific creating stunning fjords. Whilst the northern parts have huge glaciers reaching the sea. The whole stretch contains tiny, attractive communities marked out by their incredible isolation - very few have roads to the outside world and rely upon the state ferries that ply the route.
