Discovery, Culture & Wildlife Grades & Activity Guidelines

Our Discovery, Culture & Wildlife programme lists icons as guides to the type of itinerary and activities one can expect to encounter while travelling on an 'A' coded holiday.

On the website we use these icons across all the holidays we offer as a general guide and each holiday displays the description of the respective icon on the Essential Info tab within the Holiday pages, simply click on the icons on the Holiday page you visit to understand what they represent.

Guide to Discovery, Culture & Wildlife Grades

Each itinerary has been classed within a certain grade, so you can find the level that best suits you:

	Designed for people who are in good health, enjoy the outdoors and want a relaxing trip packed with interest.
	Requires a spirit of adventure and some fitness, as the trip may involve more activities or longer journeys.
	Fitness is imperative at this level, as the environment may be more remote and challenging.
	At this level we recommend previous experience of the activity involved.
Not all our trips fit easily into these grades, so we often use an intermediate grading system (for example, Leisurely/Moderate or Moderate/Challenging), where trips fall between grades or may contain some harder and easier days.

	Culture We show you the world’s greatest cultural attractions, usually through the eyes of local guides.		Relaxed Itinerary For those who prefer to take their time and explore the world at a slower pace.
	Wildlife & Safaris Generally our wholly wildlife focused trips, or itineraries which contain an element of wildlife viewing.		Wilderness Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents.
	Photography Get behind the lens of your camera and receive expert advice from our award-winning photographers.		Special Interest Quench your thirst for archaeology, flowers, food, languages or yoga on these special trips, (solar eclipse and special conservation departures are included).
	Walking & Trekking Explore the world on foot, with a significant number of walking days during the itinerary.		Cycling See the world from two wheels with self-guided, road and off-road itineraries.
	Winter Activities Alternative winter experiences including snowshoeing, snowmobiling and dogsledding.		Mixed Activities From the ordinary (walking and cycling) to the extraordinary (white water rafting and camel riding).
	Serious Adventure A worthwhile challenge!
