Ingrid Stengard - Our Local Leader in Norway
I'm Ingrid Stengård from Finland but at the moment I spend most of my time in Norway and Sweden because I love the mountains and outdoor life there. Since 1997 I have been leading walking and trekking tours and skiing holidays for different companies in Scandinavia. The five last winters I have spent in Norway leading for Exodus. My Exodus base in Norway is Rondablikk except for a few weeks when I led from Kvitåvatn last winter. There have been quite a few trips so I can soon celebrate my 50th trip for Exodus. Each week is unique and there has been quite a few memorable moments. A good one from this season was a cloudy, windy day when we decided to stay on a forest route to shelter from the weather. When we skied along we suddenly heard something moving in the forest. It was a big elk trying to walk through the deep snow. It was moving very slowly and suddenly it just collapsed in the snow about 50 metres away from us. It tried a few times to stand it up again but didn't succeed. We didn't want to disturb it too much so we took some quick photos and continued our trip with great memories from an unusual wild life experience.
'Ingrid was brilliant, a very good instructor and guide, she had a lot of local knowledge and was able to light a fire anywhere!' - Ailsa Lawton
