The Minett Family travelled on The Lost City of Petra family holiday.

To celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday last year, we wanted to have a real family adventure, a trip to remember! We booked the family holiday to the Lost City of Petra with Exodus after reading the brochure and receiving the Trip Notes which gave us a real flavour of the holiday.

The trip was amazing and far exceeded all our expectations. Of the many highlights, Petra and Wadi Rum were unsurpassable. The shear size of the site at Petra was incredible. El Khazneh, (The Treasury of ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ fame), El Deir (the Monastery), the High Place of Sacrifice and the numerous amazing tombs made for an extraordinary experience for us all.

The day in Wadi Rum was also memorable, the colours and contours of the rocks in the desert were of indescribably beauty. At one stop my son and I scaled an enormous rock bridge, which towered high above the desert.

The holiday was packed with new experiences, floating in the Dead Sea, visiting the ancient city of Jerash, snorkelling in the Red Sea and shopping in the old areas of Amman and Aquaba. Looking over the Promised Land from Mount Nebo was also another highlight.

Jordan is a great country and very welcoming. The hotels were very comfortable and the food good. Our group leader was the greatest! His command of English was exceptional, his local knowledge brilliant and he was just the best in every way (hope you are reading this, Ziad!)

I was concerned after booking this trip about the sort of reception we might receive as Europeans in the Middle East. However, we had a very relaxed and enjoyable time. The people were very friendly and I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday. The staff based in the UK were exceptionally helpful answering any queries we had. All in all a great family holiday and we shall certainly book with Exodus again!
