Walking in Andalucia

Yoga at Cortijo Rosario, Andalucia, SpainOur ‘home’ for the week in Andalucia is the beautiful Cortijo Rosario farmhouse, a family run rural retreat, offering you the chance to relax by the pool in beautiful surroundings. But there’s more to Andlucia than just the walking – and there are three fantastic options to choose from.

Take a holistic, relaxed approach on our specific yoga weeks. Each morning begins with a yoga class from a qualified instructor at the farmhouse, a peaceful setting to stretch and invigorate yourself before heading out to explore the fascinating villages of Andalucia.

If improving your photography skills is more your focus, award-winning photographer Sue Bishop will accompany a special departure to share her wealth of knowledge and help you get the best possible shots of the beautiful surroundings.

Finally, you can really get a taste of traditional Moorish cooking during a cookery lesson from the Cortijo Rosario chefs. Maria (our queen of the kitchen) will prepare you for making paella and Gazpacho, a typical cold summer soup, and Rocio will demonstrate the Cortijo version of Sangria. Plus, you get to dine on your creations on the terrace, overlooking rolling olive and lemon groves.

Special Yoga departures: 20th April & 7th September
Special Photography departure: 18th May 2013
FREE Spanish cookery lesson included on all departures between 2nd March and 1st June 2013

South Africa Walking Safari

Out on a walking safari, South AfricaIt’s early morning, there’s a low mist and the rising sun shines a golden light on the scrubland. Silent steps crush the dry grass underfoot, advancing through the bush, a lion. You watch it lazily yawn, stretch and lay on a rock, basking and warming itself. You are on safari in Kruger National Park, having spent a few days exploring Mpumalanga’s forests and the stunning scenery of the Panoramic Route and before continuing on to Swaziland and the mighty Drakensberg Mountains.

Wildlife & Wilderness of Alaska

Wild moose, Alaska, USAWalk amidst the jagged peaks of the Alaska Range, soak up the scenic splendour of Denali National Park – home to North America’s highest peak, Mt McKinley and marvel at the fascinating marine life around Prince William Sound and the Kenai Fjords. However, we save the best until last: take off on a float plane heading deep into the wilderness around the sapphire waters of the Big River Lakes where you’ll watch Grizzly and Black bears in the natural habitat.

Atlas Panorama

Working in Tijhza Hammam, MoroccoBetween pink scissor-cut mountains and cobalt skies, small Moroccan villages struggle to eke a living from the dusky slopes of the Atlas Mountains. Exodus has long been passionate at giving something back to the country with efforts focusing on the Tijzha Valley. Over the years our projects have included helping to build a water tower, providing a much needed medical centre and our biggest achievement, building a hamman. As well as enjoying some exceptional walks you will stay in the village and see our projects, also having the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Moroccan steam bath which in turn helps support the village’s hard work.

South Africa Walking & Wine

Cape Dutch house, South AfricaImagine the scene: you’ve been walking all day, with the exquisite South African sun bronzing your shoulders as you wind between the strange, oblong crags of the Drakensberg Mountains. You settle down, release your toes from your boots, and settle back in your chair to sip a crisp chenin blanc or punchy syrah and mull over the day with your fellow walkers. The sun sets over the vineyards, and you know you get to do it all again tomorrow.
