Volunteer trips to Africa
Exodus Volunteer Trips
If you are looking for something a little different from your holiday this year then why not try one of our volunteer trips to Africa. These fantastic trips are designed to ensure you can have a positive impact on your destination as well as giving you a chance to interact with the local community, whilst not forgetting that you are still on holiday. In Morocco and Zambia we have formed strong links with the villages we visit ensuring any work that we do is at the request of the community itself.
This is the 3rd year we have run volunteer trips to the village of Tijzha where in the past we have helped the village school with renovations, and helped towards the addition of a medical centre and a new community centre. This years trips will be more focused on the villagers themselves and helping renovate some of the poorer homes in the village. We have 2 trips running for a week in April and September. The trips will be lead by Andy Mckee who set up the Exodus Project here.
Departure date: 25 April 2010
'The work was really rewarding and the appreciation shown by the children and villagers was amazing.' Richard Thornton
'I shall definitely be going back next year – make sure you run the trip again.' Jill Lysons
'This was my 5th trip back to this wonderful village - it won’t be my last.' Peter Florence
Zambia – Special Volunteer Departure
If you are looking for something a little different from your holiday this year, why not try the special volunteer departure of our Zambezi Valley (AZC) trip, which departs on 3rd September 2010 (NB: to be confirmed).
The trip includes a 3-night stay with a local family in Kasalu Village, a rural community located about 30km outside Lusaka. During this time, you will have a unique opportunity to eat, sleep and work alongside the villagers, giving them a helping hand. What you end up doing depends entirely upon your own skills and what tasks need doing at the time. You could end up teaching English or sports at the school, clearing land, building a pit latrine or something else entirely! There is always plenty that needs doing and whatever help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
After your 3 days at the village, you will then travel to the Zambezi River for a true African adventure canoeing downriver and wild camping along the way. The Zambezi Valley is home to large populations of hippo, elephant and crocodile as well as buffalo and many species of birds. Travelling by canoe allows you to view this splendid wildlife without the usual confines of a safari vehicle.
Departure dates: 3 September 2010 (NB: to be confirmed)
'I cannot begin to tell you what a wonderful time we had.' Teela Sanders
'A wonderful, never to be forgotten experience. Thank you so much.' Audrey Wallace
'To be so welcomed and to be able to work side by side with the villagers was an amazing experience.' Simon Lee
