We are travelling on the AZV overland trip from Cape Town to Victoria Falls via Namibia. At what point of the trip do we start taking malaria tablets and which tablets are normally advised for that area?

I did this trip a few years ago and it was brilliant.
I took malerone tablets from the start of the trip and on the advice of our tour leader stopped taking them at the border with South Africa as the risk is only high in Northern Namibia, and you only have to take the tablets for a week after you're out of the danger zone.
If you do get Malerone, you need a private prescription from your GP and the cheapest by far place to get them is www.travelpharm.co.uk. You just order them online and then post your presription.
Hope that helps, Diana
