Finnish Dog Sledging Week, So What's it Like?

Hi Mike, This is a new trip set up for 2009. We previously ran a trip further south in the Kainu region of Finland however in order to take advantage of cheaper, direct flights and redesign the trip to be more of a challenging expedition we set up this particular itinerary. The dogsledding tour will last five days and take a loop from the Kuusamo area skirting the Russian border and Oulanka National Park. Moving from base to base will mean you will get the chance to get really involved with the huskies, feeding and harnessing them and experience the real wilderness cottages along the route as well. As it says in the trip notes the facilities in the wilderness inns can be basic however with saunas in all and showers and toilets in all but one, we feel it will give you a real experience of the wilderness. You should get the chance to see the Northern Lights as well - as you are north of the Arctic Circle at points. Hope this helps. Andy Buswell (Trip Manager)

Hi.  Although obviously not this particular trip I did a week sledging about 10 years ago and had the most brilliant time.  Go for it
