Mobile Phone Reception on Everest Base Camp Trek?

Trip - TNT, Departure Date - 9 April 2009
Might seem a very sad question (and probably is) - is there much mobile phone reception on the Everest Base Camp trek? The reason I ask is not that I want to phone home every day(!), but that I'd like to post to a travel blog whilst I am there using my PDA. I seem to recall reading somewhere that something was set up comms-wise during the Olympic torch-carrying, but if anyone has any specific info - greatly appreciated.

Mobile reception -
There is mobile reception up to Thyangboche (day 8)which will include Lukla, Phakding, Namche and Thyangboche. Sometimes Dingboche but not usually. Above that there is no mobile reception. The lodge owners have satelite phones only for communication. Nepal Telecom (and usually Mero mobile) work up to Thyangboche and occaisionally in Dingboche. However reception will depend on the network you are on, here in the UK. You should contact your provider prior to your departure There are e-mail centres in Namche only.

Thanks Emma for the -

Thanks Emma for the comprehensive reply.

I may forego the live blogging if the reception is patchy.
