Advice on injections -
Trip - MIR - CYCLE THE BACKROADS OF SRI LANKA, Departure Date - Sunday 28th November 2010
Hi guys anyone going on this trip. I am a bit confused about the injections needed. I have had all the standard ones done on NHS like diptheria, polio, typhoid, but am not sure about the Rabies and Japanese enchephalitis (no idea if that is how it's spelt). They are pretty expensive and I'm not sure I need them. Anyone got any thoughts on it.

Injections - sri Lanka -

Hi, I'm Sandra - also on this trip. I didnt bother with the rabies injection. I dont think we're going anywhere so remote that we wont be 24hrs away from a hospital, which seems to be the advice that most places give you. Even if you have the rabies shots (I think there are three of them) you'd still have to have further shots if you get bitten anyway. I went to India a couple of years ago and didnt have them for that trip either.

As for the Japanese whatsit I dont think there is any injection, not that I've ever heard of anyway. You just need to avoid getting bitten by the mozzies - so just bring some repellant with you.

See you soon!!

Hi Sandra,Glad you said that -

Hi Sandra,

Glad you said that as we didnt have them either and it would be too late now! Look forward to meeting you on the holiday.
