This will be my fourth trip with Exodus and so far I have been very impressed with every one of them, but this will be my first time travelling on my own. I know from previous holidays that the groups usually mix well together so am really looking forward to it. I will be flying down from Newcastle upon Tyne to Gatwick where I will have a very loooong wait for the group flight, so if there's anyone else doing this we could keep each other company.
I am going on the Amalfi trip with my husband and two children (18 & 20). This is our first Exodus trip although my husband and I have done a walking holiday before. We're flying into Gatwick the night before, staying at one of the airport hotels and will be hanging about on the Saturday morning. We'd be delighted to meet up beforehand.
Hello to both of you.
My husband (Phil) and I are going on this trip too. It is our 2nd walking holiday in Italy with Exodus and if the first was anything to go by it will be great. This is our 8th Exodus trip and I am just about to plan next year's so Brenda - which trips have you been on before and would you recommend any of them. We will be travelling down to Gatwick on the Saturday from Gloucestershire. You can usually tell a fellow Exodus traveller by their attire - Just look at the footwear!
Looking forward to meeting up with you and your husband. My husband is James and our children are Eilidh (pronounced "ay-lay" as in Hayley but without the "H"!) and Duncan. We're travelling down from the NE of Scotland so quite a journey for us before we even get started!
For Francespasha and GailM- My friend and i did a trip to Peru 4 years ago which included a shortened version of the Inca trail and 3 days in the Amazon region (I think it was Trip code APA) but it might have changed- it was brilliant and it was to celebrate her 70th birthday! Apart from the usual sight seeing we spent one day on an island on lake Titicaca with a local family. Very basic but never to be forgotten.
The following year we did a trip to Nepal which was the Classic Annapurna - 5 days trekking - two days river rafting then ending up in the jungle again!. The Sherpas were great and the pace was kept reasonable.
After that we did a trip to Morocco - not really a walking holiday but we did climb up to a Gite to spend the night (not a French style Gite) this was beds on the floor and fully dressed as it was freezing. Then we ended up by doing a camel trek into the desert and spending the night under Beduin tents! i dont go for 'normal' holidays as you can see which is what most of my friends prefer. But I hope Italy will be good. If my previous experiences with Exodus are anything to go by they most certainly will. The organisation is brilliant which is why I have plucked up courage to travel on my own this year after having two foot operations in the last 18 months I am now trying to get my fitness level back up. You are right about seeking out Exodus travellers - I always travel in boots! Just bought a new lightweight pair.
Really looking forward to meeting you all.
Just received my final joining instructions etc this morning and in view of the recent weather I am really looking forward to this trip and a bit of sunshine! I will be arriving in Gatwick around 8.30 am on 3rd so will be looking out for any Exodus labels. Also now starting to look at holidays for next year! Look forward to meeting you all.
Yes, we're all getting excited here and definitely looking forward to some sunny and warm weather. It's 12C here today and very wet. We're staying overnight at Gatwick and are planning to check in then have some breakfast so will hopefully see you about.
Can't believe it's only three weeks to go - I've got so much work to do before then and have to get my son organised for university - we're taking him down to Glasgow University the day after we arrive back in the UK. All go!
Even if the temperature drops to the low 20s by the time we get there that will be quite acceptable after the foul weather we've had recently. Mind you, it's been glorious here today. Such a change after all the rain.
