Yep, did Mt Toubkal last month and am kinda hooked, also wanted to make sure I got away properly before its head down for final year of studying and working at the same - whose dumb idea was that!

Reckon so, looking forward to having not much else to do but walk, look at stuff, chat, eat and drink for a week :-)

Yeah, lots by the look of it, I'm hoping it'll be more sustained plenty of walking rather than the short and really intense (long! days) of the Mt Toubkhal long weekend

I was actually looking at the Morocco Atlas Panorama before booking this one but yeah, looking at the altitude gains I think 4 of the days will be sustained walking, so Im traying to stay fit by going lots to the gym as I havent done any big walks this year unfortunately How was Toubkhal anyway?

Yeah same, lots of gym since finding time to walk is tricky. Toubkhal was awesome, really hard going, I'd not trained anything like enough having had to rest my achilles after an over enthusiastic session zapped it. The altitude really had an effect, on the way up I got to the point where I was taking 25 steps and then stopping to catch my breath. The necessity for crampons and ice axe floored me! I'd booked Morocco and pictured trekking up through hot rocky desert conditions - snow all the way from 3000m. Still I made it and was well chuffed and enjoyed it despite at some points thinking "and this is my holiday!?!"

wow sounds really exciting...I had a similar experience when i booked with another company to do the 13 mountains of wales in 3 days :D it was fun but my right knee was painful for a long time after...and we only managed to do 12!

Heh, not interested in hurty knees! I got walking poles at a lot of friends recommendation and I dunno if I'd have got bad knees without them but I didn't with them iyswim. Was glad of that!That Wales mountain trek sounds intensely hard going!!

Not long now really, need to get a few bits, hopefully find some sales for wicking base layers etc

Errrr, no not done any vaccinations, should I? Nothing mentioned in the trip notes, am relying on having the immune system of a self employed person to keep me well!

Done a bit of shopping for wicking tops etc, think am sorted.

Yeh really looking forward to some pleasant moderately warm, but more consistent weather for walking. Not sure how the altitude will effect the temperature though, I guess I won't mind it cooler on some of the bigger ascents!

 

changed some money.. could only get large notes though... won't buy a new rucksack after all, it suggests 30l in the notes but Ive been fine with a smaller one so far and its only going to be day trips anyway! Really hoping to be able to get rid of this annoying throat infection I seem to drag along for ages now or it will all feel much tougher!

Would be a nice to have got shot of a cold by then, am counting myself lucky for that (so far).

Its not long now at all, I'm getting excited! 

You know I've been so busy at work lately (and socially as well) that I really haven't had time to look forward to the holiday, I must set aside some time this saturday to look at what I want to pack and double check that I really don't need to buy anything!  I'm tempted to check the weather too :)

The forecast when I looked earlier in the week was for fab weather. Think am sorted, can't wait to head down to Heathrow tomorrow evening and start the holiday!!

Stressed out packing as usual !!! bet I will forget something !!! How many pairs of shoes should I take ??? LOL

Bet you're here now though. Just enjoying a beer in departures. An exceptionally early beer is a signal to start relaxing after the flap of car parking, check-in and security. Only to find gate will be announced in nearly an hours time!
