Trip - TPD - INCA TRAIL, TITICACA & NAZCA, Departure Date - Saturday 11th August 2012

Hi just looking to see if anyone is doing this trip.

Would be great to hear how you are preparing for it.

TPD - May 12 2012 -
We're doing it, leaving UK on the 12 May.  To prepare for the trail, we're using the exercise advice in an excellent book 'Explore the Inca Trail', published by Rucksack Readers www.rucsacs.com.  We are doing a mixture of walking on high fells, when the weather's good enough, and going to the gym, using cross-trainers and treadmills (with incline) when the weather's not good.  Just hope it works ... Any other advice gratefully received

Inca Trail -

Hi Angela and Graeme

I am doing the Inca trail 8th aug to the 18th? I wonder if we will be on the same bit to the do the trail? Your trip is longer and more exotic than mine! Sounds fantastic - are you regular adventurers?

I haven't yet started preparing but I am going to at any moment. Just need to finish my easter eggs!!

Hi -

Hi Sarah,

We may well end up seeing each other on the trail. I've downloaded a training programme that we start 14 weeks before we go so quite soon really. This will be my 7th Exodus holiday but we've only done walking holidays before not treks so I really need to get in shape for it.

Hi -

Where did you download your training programme from? Was it from the link from the email above?? It is difficult to know how fit you need to be to do this trek - hopefully my slowly slowly mantra will serve me well! I am working on the basis that if I am too fit (that will so never happen) then I will go too fast and get altitude sickness.......it is working for me to stay slow and steady.
