Hi im Jo and me and my husband Nige are off on the Lycian trip in May?! Would love to meet people who are also going on this trip and would appreciate any advice as this is our first Exodus trip.
I've just booked on this trip. This will be my 3rd Exodus trip (2nd walking and treking).
I'm doing 2 this year so this is kind of a warm up for a tougher one in Sept.
The best advice I can give is get good 3 season sleeping bags and an inflatable/small pillow. You won't sleep in the tents otherwise!!!
Thanks for getting in touch. We are really looking forward to the trip as it is a totally new experience for us both. We have also booked a second trip for September, we are doing the Yosemite and Canyonlands trip, where else are you off to?
We have been collecting our kit for months now, we have got some lovely down season 3 sleeping bags which hopefully will do the job. Just a small question: What is suitable sleeping bag atire? Pj's or vest and shorts?
Have you done a cycling holiday with exodus? We are thinking this may be our next adventure for next year.
Anyway, looking forward to meeting you.
I'm going to be attempting the Mount Kenya ascent. Not quite got the courage to book it yet though!!
As far as sleeping bags are conrcerned I guess it's what ever your comfortable in, I always go for trakie bottoms and a t-shirt but after a long day's treking you'll probably just crash in whatever..... always good to have fleece handy though.
I haven't done any cycling holidays (not to stable on a bike) but a friend of mine goes quite often. She thinks their great, especially when someone else is carrying all your kit around.
Are you having any extra days in Turkey? I thought about a couple of extra days at the end but works going to be a bit of a problem!!
The mount kenya trip looks great! We were thinking of doing it last january as it coincided with a total eclipse. After looking at the trip notes though we decided it may have been a little too much for our first activity holiday. I just think my husband was convinced I couldn't manage it!
We have not booked any extra days for Turkey as I need t save some holiday for the USA trip. I have decided that work really does get in the way of life!
Thanks for the sleeping bag dress code, nearly showed myself up in my polar bear PJ's, track suit bottoms will do fine.
I have just booked this trip, I'm not having any extra days in Turkey, just booked another trip for 13-June so not much time between them. Sleeping bag atture, well the general opinion seems to be nothing, as clothing affects the working of the bag, not so sure myself, but there does seem to be some truth in it, perhaps not if sharing !.
Rob Mt Kenya, just go ahead and book it, it will focus your mind on getting fit, you wont regret it. I done Kili in Feb its a great feeling AFTERWARDS.
Don't take life too seriously, you'll never get out of it alive.
Where are you off to in June?
The trip I just booked for June is another Exodus trip,
Trip code TEL name - Sicilian Volcanoes
Anything with volcanoes, well just got to do it.
The volcanoe trip sounds great, I will be really interested in what you think. I am really looking forward to hearing everyones experiences on past trips and new ones coming up, will give us ideas for the future. We are going to do the Yosemite and Canyonlands in September, (TAG I think), we are using the Lycian Way as a warm up, we have never done anything like it so fingers crossed!!!! I really hope we can go onto to do Killi like yourself, can't wait to hear all about it.
Only 11 more sleeps!!!
Volcanoes, yes it looks an interesting trip, I spoke with a couple of guys that have done the trip, they enjoyed it, so I just had to book it. meanwhile I just hope Turkey is a bit warmer than here, and keeping the legs walking.
Only 11 more sleeps, Heck I will have to start thinking about this one, rather than planning others.
If you want a few ideas on what to do / where to go on future trips, you may like to have a look at my site www.1sandstone.net there are photos from the last 28 trips.
how many trips!!!!
I will have a look tonight and look forward to hearing about your adventures.
