I am just booking today, are you looking forward to it?I never done anything like that before so slightly panicking ;)
Thanks for the message and I'm really looking forward to getting out there, in a few weeks it will be all systems go! I'm actually making my own way there on the 7th from Birmingham as the flight times seemed better...so I'll be meeting you all at the Hotel Les Trois Palmiers on the morning of the 9th....I may try and stop up on the 8th to say hello to everyone but I think you get in late?
I've done a couple of trips with Exodus before and they have been very good, I'm sure we'll have a blast! I'm enjoying buying all my kit! :) Is this you first time?
Yep first time!so exicted!Any advice what to take please?? :)
Just a couple of weeks to go now, I'm really looking forward to a good break!
I'm certainly no expert but can pass on what I know. For me the most important pre-holiday piece of kit (and its mentioned in the trip notes) is a copy of Lonely Planet – Morocco. You’ll get lots of valuable information and it is certainly worth the £17.
Kit wise, I think the kit list on the trip notes is really good – better than previous trip notes I’ve made use of. I wouldn’t worry too much about taking best clothes as nobody really cares about an old t-shirt or a hair out of place!!! I made that mistake on my first trip J I’m just taking a couple of non-walking clothes for the 1st couple of days and last afternoon.
I’ve looked at the temperature in Morocco at the moment and I’m going to take a 2 season sleeping bag rather than the recommend 3 season one. If I get cold I will put on some thermals but with overnight temps seeming to be around 15-20 degrees I doubt I will get cold!! I’m investing in a sleeping bag liner so if I’m really warm then I’ll just sleep with that over me.
I’ve always found that the majority of people who go on these trips to be very helpful and friendly. Hopefully we’ll get someone more experienced than myself see these posts and provide more details!!
LeePS. Have you checked out the videos of the village, looks really rural!
Just ordered the book from Amazon, only £10 bargain ;) so I will educate myself before I go!
Thanks for you tips. They recomend some vaccinations for this trip, have you done these?
I had a look at the photos people poted from the previous trips and you right it does look very rural,my friends thinks I am mad going there instead going on your usual beach holiday but I am really looking forward to this new experience ! :)
Your friends will be very jealous when they see your photos and hear the stories! The books a bargain at £10, well worth it!
I had my vacinnations on Monday, did all three at the same time. I spoke with the nurse and asked for advice on whether to have them or not and she said they always advise you get them when going to Morocco, so I think if you've got time they would be worth getting. No side effects.
Currency is the one thing I'm not sure about, are you planning to get yours out there?
Ok I just book to see the nurse on Tuesday ,I hope is not too late as I just read that some vaccinations should be done 6 weeks before you go but i booked so late so I couldn't do it earlier
Well I think we will have to as it sayd you only allow to take 1000 dirhams which is about £75,I know we won't have much oportunity to spend the money but I would like to have a bit more than that so I think I will exchange when we get there
I did a quick check on the web to see how long it is before the vaccinations become effect, from what I've read HepA is about 2 weeks and Typhoid is 2-4 weeks. You're in the time frame so all good!
I'm going to try and see about the money, spoke to a guy at the post office and he said they didn't do them but I wasn't 100% convinced!!
Have a good one,
