Anyone else going on this trip?

Hi
Just booked this trip, first time to West Africa for me, shortly I am on a trip in Sudan, only returning on the 07-March, so all a bit of a rush.
cringeruk :- I always put about 36 photos on my site shortly after returning ( www.1sandstone.net ) maybe on facebook also if I can get the hang of it.

Hi
This was the first exodus trip to Sierra Leone, so it was bound to be a bit rough around the edges.
Andy from exodus was on the trip along with a local guide, so there was an exchange of views and information.
So a future trip may well have some changes made.
Day 2, Arrived Tiwai Island rather late, so only a very short forest walk, no search light available so the night boat trip was dropped. Day 3, Two forest walks were taken, with a long break between them, its Ok to go into the forest un-guided but its a maze, so this restricts how far one can go ( very little seen ).
Day 4/5 Banana Island, Idyllic well maybe, but the beach is very smal, there are better beaches on the mainland, the
walk to Ricketts took about two & half hours each way, with a long wait for lunch, ( nothing seen )
Day 6, River number 2 beach, nice beach but time spent there rather short, no mention was made of the nature trail, and I suspect it would be difficult to wander off due to time restrictions.
Day 7, Chimpanzee sanctuary, interesting and went as planned. Day 8, The optional Bunce Island trip is hard to avoid as the boat starts at Freetown and returns to Lungi ( US$ 45 with 9 people ).
There were no sugestions for the use of free time, I think this needs addressing. An interesting ( if expensive ) trip,
the local guide was very enthusiastic, but I feel the trip needs improvements before it meets normal standards.
Wildlife = 13 bird species identified, Rainbow Lizard, and King Colobus.
