Libya 2nd Oct -

hi matt

i'm booked on this trip too - there are seven of us so far and you're the first i've seen on the compass cafe. don't know much about what to pack but i did read in one review that loo roll and wet wipes are a must...! also read that lightweight walking boots were a good idea rather than anything heavy duty. i went to morocco with exodus last year on the atlas panorama trip - was amazing and made me want to come back to north africa. have you travelled with exodus before?

Hello AliceThanks for the -

Hello Alice

Thanks for the tips!  I went to Jordan last year with Exodus, spent one night in the desert and loved it so thought I would go for a longer trip this time.  The itinerary looks pretty amazing and all the reviews have been very positive so am really looking forward to it.  Need to get plenty of spare batteries for my camera I think!

Hopefully as the time gets closer a few others will drop a line on here too.

Have a good weekend.

Hi Matt

Just booked on this trip too - can't wait!  Have absolutely no idea what I'm packing at the moment, but thought I'd say 'hello' all the same.

Paul

this trip is great -

Hi, I did this trip in October 2008 and it was really great. Lightweight boots for the rocky bits and trekking sandals for the sandy and town bits. Wet wipes are essential but this trip is organised so that you have a few days wild camping and then stay in a camp with hot showers.

Change money at the airport as there was little opportunity afterwards. Our drivers in the sahara only had cassette players and their music was limited - they would probably appreciate some recent pop music on cassette if you wanted to bring a gift.

Have fun, Rachel

thanks rachel - good to know - might have to get up in the loft to hunt out some cassettes! matt and paul - look forward to meeting you both in a few weeks!

Thanks for the hints -

Thanks for the tips Rachel.  Glad to hear there will be at least a few showers now and again, and the money advice is spot-on.

Hey Paul, good to hear from you.  Sounds like we'll all be packing plenty of wet-wipes!   Have you been on any of these sort of trips before?

Hey Rachel - in a few -
Hey Rachel - in a few weeks?  Don't say that, have no idea what i'm taking yet!  Be great to see you then too.  Matt, nope not been on one of these before - am especially looking forward to seeing the desert.. something I've wanted to do for ages.

try & remember some campfire songs -

Forgot to say that the drivers sing in the evening around the campfire, they will ask you to sing some traditional British songs so if you want to amaze them (most British groups are rubbish) then try remembering some songs from your scouting days.

Matt, Alice, Paul, Bit of a last minute call, but just booked on this trip so will see you on the 2nd! Been on similar trips before and wet wipes are an essential. Would also recommend a small bottle of hand wash that you can pick up for a few quid in Boots to avoid tummy trouble and a head light for those after dark trips to the loo! Allan
