Battery charging

Battery charging -

Has anyone had any experience charging camera batteries using portable solar power? Specifically Canon slr batteries. I`ve previously managed for about a week by carrying 4 fully charged batteries, but the long Nepal trek I`m going on will be around 18 days away from easily available electricity. I realise charging will be available at some teahouses, but would like the fun of trying to manage independently.

Advice on the best connection method, and solar charger model, preferably able to strap to a rucksack, would be much appreciated.

Battery Charging -

Hi Sid,

We've had a few suggestions from around the office on this one, a number of different outdoor specialists stock solar chargers, many of which come with multiple leads although of course you'd need to check as some are made more with mobile phones in mind. Others here have gone for the tried and tested battery powered charger. You then need a handy supply of the relevant battery for that. Some of these chargers are adaptable for the lithium batteries used by an SLR.

I hope that helps

Tom
