Burning fields of Laos? -
Trip - AOC - DISCOVER THAILAND, LAOS & CAMBODIA, Departure Date - Friday 18th March 2011

I've just read this on another travel site:

'I was in Laos at the beginning of last March and we couldn't see the gorgeous scenery around Luang Prabang or Vang Vieng because of the smoke from the slash and burn. The smoke was just hanging in the air and some asthmatics we travelled with also had difficulty breathing with the air quality. I'm not sure how long this lasted after we left (we were there for 20 days or so) but every day we were there it was like this.'

Can anyone comment on this? As I've booked to go to Laos with Exodus on March 17, I found the comment distinctly worrying!
