Classic Kenya Safari

Hi Angela and Anthony, my name's Mark.I shall be joining you on this trip too and certainly looking forward to it .Have done several trips with Exodus and Explore but like you both , my first safari...either of you from Kent?
ps Angela have you got the Departure date wrong...i think its the 26th, not 27th Jan
I did see the Suday Times article funnily enough and kept it.... keep away from blue clothing it seems or else you'll be 'sleeping ' the whole holiday !!odd...
re the money , i'm not sure how much we should take as you say but I can't imagine we'll need much in the Mara.Biggest expense is the balloon trip but i guess I'll be taking a few dollars and getting some local currency at Nairobi airport. What are you guys doing about the visa and malaria prophylaxis by the way?
It is very important to take some protection. My doctor recommends Malarone which has the advantage that you don't have to start taking it two weeks before you leave. I was able to get mine from Tescos pharmacy on a private prescription from my Doctor's surgery. Tesco was a bit cheaper.

thanks Anthony...yes,I've been doing some research too and like you , have a prescription for Malarone . Was also persuaded to have a Yellow Fever jab (apparently high risk in the Mara). Not cheap either!
must rememeber to have a look at the website Angela recommended
Read somewhere that it is only essential if entering the country from an area infected with Yellow fever. Counting down the days :).
hello, all just wanted to introduce myself, im Tom and i pressume i'm travelling with you all very soon?! - cannot wait, theres an unoficial count down at work (just to rub it in) so far my docs have suggested that i have my twin rix (hep A&B) final booster to finish off my occupational health treatment and to mostly protect against hepA?i have also started and completed a 3 tablet / 6 day course of vivotif (typhoid)i have yet to start my malarone but have heard mixed reviews of these for mixed reactions?
also wondering what others are planning to do for the travel visa? - ive read that this can be purchased from nairobi airport?
anybody interested in meeting up for a coffee tomorrow, say around 5.15? We could do some sort of chain call...if so,my mobile is 07812 344467
