Currency and gifts to take on trip -
Trip - APD - ESSENTIAL PERU, Departure Date - Saturday 17th April 2010
I'm joining the Essential Peru trip on 17th April and would like recommendations as to what currency to take and approx how much.  Also reading the reviews it was suggested taking a small gift for the night we spend with a host family - any suggetions?

hi, the currency to take are american dollars, if your wondering is about how much read please the reviews of adp trip in order to have an idea. Perhaps US$ 350??. Pencils, notebooks or small toys (nothing relevant or expensive will be welcome) for the host family in Amantani Island.

about how much you may spend in Peru is between 350 to 500 POUNDS!! Unless you would like to buy many handicrafts or souvenirs this average could be increase more.

Currency -

My friend has just got back from Peru and he recommended taking the local currency, Soles.  He found that many of the smaller places preferred these.  Royal Bank of Scotland supply Soles - you can buy online or order a collection.

Probably wise to take a mixture of dollars and Soles, although you can change up when you get there.
