Currency to take to Thailand, Lois, Vietnam, Cambodia - 12th Jan 2012 - 1:27pm

Can anyone advise whether we need to have supplies of all these currencies or whether we could use US dollars in all/some of these countries?

Hello, I'm not on this trip but have just come back from back packing around SE Asia, so feel pretty qualified to help here.

Thailand - you can take Baht (around 40-45 bahtto the £) ample cash points to withdraw cash with reasonable charges.

Laos, you can only get the kip currency in the contry and its pretty worthless in truth, you can use dollars and the locals seem to prefer it, although don't be surprised to get kip back in change

Cambodia - The Riel is similar to the kip, again you can use dollars here and get change back in Riel.
