Hi and Happy New Year!
Just wondering who else has booked onto the trip? It will be my first holiday with Exodus but have done a Charity bike trip before. Looking forward to hearing from everyone.
Lovely to get your email - and well done for getting booked onto the trip. i am just about to join a gym as I havent been out on my bike for months and feel the sudden need to get a bit fitter! Hopefully the weather will improve by Easter and we can get a few miles in. Which part of the country are you in? I am in Bedfordshire.
Hello Girls, sorry to gatecrash your cosy little chat! I've just booked this trip this weekend as well after thinking about it for a while. Like you Amanda had to get Exodus to find some flights but as I am from 'up North' Gatwick was not too good for me anyway! I'm going from Manchester via Frankfurt. This is my 3rd Exodus cycling trip and both the others have been well organised, so hoping for the same again. I am a regular cyclist and toying with the idea of taking my own bike this time, enjoy your spinning, I've got to put up with the N. Yorks moors and coast..... well someone has to!!
Well it sounds like you'll have no trouble with the hills then. Good to hear that you are booking for a 3rd time. Which other trips have you been on? I am already looking at others before I've even gone on this one.
Know what you mean Sue, I've got an extensive wish list which seems to change regularly. The 2 trips I've done, both as a solo traveller are the Indochina and Angkor last Feb: Excellent trip, easy cycling (mostly flat), great sights, interesting history, great food and met some lovely people and Bosnia Mountain Biking last Sept: The cycling was much harder, but again interesting recent history ( Mostar is a lovely little city) and again my fellow travellers were all great company. My children think I am daft going on holiday on my own, ( I do take them sometimes) but all my friends are envious, must be an age thing! Weather is improving here so should be able to get outside this weekend?
I went to Cambodia a couple of years back, but not cycling. I did see a few cyclists and wondered if they were on an organized trip. Angkor is an amazing place and it was a very memorable holiday. For future trips I am looking at South Africa and Sri Lanka but am just holding off until I have been on this one. Enjoy your cycling this weekend.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I booked with a friend who I hope is going to be able to join us but he currently has a back problem. We are both married and didn't realise that there was as much emphasis on this being a singles trip as it now appears! Better not tell our wives!
Cheers, John (also sometimes called JohnnyD!)
The more the merrier - I believe the trip is now full with 16 people. I've also sneaked in an extra trip to the Amalfi Coast over Easter as I had nothing else planned and just want to get cycling. There are only 2 girls booked on it though so will be very different to the Croatia trip.
Look forward to hearing from everyone else.
Paid final balance today, so looking forward to some good weather now! last week out on my road bike at 20C plus, finishing with an ice cream on the sea front. This week 5c wet and windy so haven't bothered.
Dont worry Johnny I am sure none of will spill the beans, if you dont.
Enjoy your trip to Amalfi over Easter Suzanne.
Thanks for the message. The weather has been amazing but I haven't bothered this week either. I've got a spin class on Thursday night then that's it until we get there on Saturday and on the bike on Sunday. I'll let you know what I make of a 'moderate' rated trip.
Here's hoping that there aren't too many steep hills!
Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time on the Amalfi Coast road trip. Just got back yesterday. Really good guide, hard climbs! but didn't get off my bike, spetacular scenery, mixed weather - 3 lovely sunny days and 3 days of torrential rain so one day of cycling had to be cancelled for sfety reasons. A great time was had with a really nice bunch of people. Roll on Croatia!
Was hoping that someone else might post on this thread!
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Amalfi Sue, despite the wet days, weather in Croatia recently has been certainly warmer so looking forward to some sun.
Don't worry about the hills, they get easier and you soon reach the top. Much worse cycling is wind! always against you and relentless. There has cetainly been quite a bit round here recently, off the sea too so Cold!! This week looks better though.
Bike booked on plane and box sorted, website says it will cost me 70Euros, we shall see?
See you in 12 days.
Not long now! I've been poorly & spent 2 days in bed last week so really need to get on my bike this weekend or I will be a bit saddle sore!
The bikes were really good in Amalfi so I'm relying on that again for this trip. Just got to sort out some currency and start putting things aside for packing.
Am very excited about seeing the sun although we may get a bit of that here this week too.
