I did that trip a couple of years ago and it has changed a bit - for the better I would say. Several of us on that trip got stomach upsets after Varanasi. Not terrible, but a bit of anuisance. Watch what you eat; apparantly Varanasi is famous for dodgy food.

The optional flight over Everest is expensive but well worth it. You're in a small propellor driven plane with good views and everybody gets a turn in the cockpit.

hi, yeah im looking at doing this trip too, hopefully in jan 11, it looks amazing, bit nervous about doing it on my own but i know ive gotta do it.
