Fellow travallers to Marrakech & The Sahara 18th Sept

Hi

I have just booked this trip as a solo traveller. First time so very nervous but looking forward to getting to know everyone. I am flying seperately from the mai tour so wont meet anyone until the hotel as I fly into Marrakech then come via road to meet you on first night.

I am Ann from Dundee in Scotland.

It is great to make contact with a fellow travaller. We will be travalling from Kent. Although I have some worries I am really looking forward to the trip, 5 weeks to go. I think the camel trek will be fun and sleeping in the desert. I worring about exchanging money and a few other silly things. I am going to phone Exodus. I was given the name Denisha, who has been on this trip. I am also trying work out what I need to take, I think nano packing is required.

I have a huge list of concerns. I only booked it today so not really read much of it yet. I am very scared about the whole thing esoecially going on my own. I'm another solo traveller - I was the first to book months ago, so I'm glad you all booked or I wouldn't have got to go.

I'm worried about the changing money business aswell - don't know if it's best to take cash or a card for an ATM

Hi Liz great to make contact. You can phone Exodus and speak with Danuta, she went on the trip arond the same time last year, she was very helpful and freindly. I think i will mainly take cash sterling and possible euros. I will also take my card for ATM as back up, you should inform your bank before you travel to save your card being eaten by the machine. Will you be travelling from Heathrow? My hubby and I are. There is approx 11 of us in the group youngest 39 oldest 70!! Look forward to meeting you:)x

H, Liz, Ann and Alison I am jsut about to book this trip - have been thinking about booking for a few weeks now and finally decided to go for it.  I went to Kilimankaro a couple of years ago with Exodus and it was really good so hoping for the same here.  How are we all getting on with exchanging the money?  I was going to exchange over there but not sure which is best.... look forward to hearing back from you.  Paul

Hi Paul, good to make contact. This is the first  time for us, so excited. I think we will take sterling and euros. Derek, thats my hubby, read that we will probable not be able to exchange monies until the next day after arrival and the hotel should be able to do that. We will not arrive until late. Seem the holiday is now fully booked, you must have been the last, not sure how many that makes. are you on facebook? i did look and there is only a handful of Paul Noads. My friend was in Morocco and took Euros and Sterling, he said it was really easy to change money in most places and the guides would advise where was best to do it. I need to change some at the airport as I am not on the group flights so I need to get a taxi to get the tour guide to travel with them to meet the rest of you. Hi Anne and alison, so it looks quite easy to change money then, which is good news. I believe there is now 14 people on this trip with 2 others holding places. I am getting quite excited about it now as its so close to the departing date. I live in cheshire and will be getting a train to euston then tube to heathrow. I'm not on Facebook at the moment sorry. So what part is everyone looking forward to most?

Sorry I havent been joining in much lately, rushed off my feet at work. Paul/Louise are you both travelling on your own? When I signed up there were only Liz & myslef as solo travellers and 8 in tiotal going so looks like it has become a popular choice lately. I am flying outwith the group flights from Gatwick, is anyone else not on group flights?

Paul - not sure what I am looking forward to the most to be honest, its the first time I have really been away on my own so nerves are overtaking the excitement part just now, once I actually get there I am sure it will be okay. Just hope I can cope with the walking in that heat :)

 

I have not comunicated much. I was getting to obsessed and over excited, I have been trying to focus on other things. I am back to work after  days of and holiday, so thats kept my mind occupied. Welcolm to Louise, it would be nice to meet everyone before we leave.

Hi This will be my 3rd trip with Exodus so hoping this is as a great as the other 2.  I managed to book the last place as a solo traveller.  Hope to meet anyone travelling from London on the group flight before arrive in Morrocco - although it is always fun trying to figure out who you might be travelling with at the airport.

Ann - good to see another Dundunion on the trip although I am now based in Edinburgh.

I am looking forward to it, but sill very nervous. Is everyone else on the group flight then? What currency is everyone taking? Any top tips on what to pack? Got a manic week ahead of me so really need to get a shoogle on and get organised. Feel free to come onto facebook and find me!

yes I'm on the group flight at heathrow - flying down from manchester first. Just want to get out there now....I'm really not concentrating at work!  I'm just taking sterling with me and will change it at casablanca or the hotel.   I have packed twice....still got far too much! 

Hello fellow travellers! Only just discovered this site and only 3 days to go for the adventure. Look forward to meeting everyone. Janet and I will be joining the flight at Heathrow on Sunday evening after travelling down from Derbyshire by train. Like everyone else, we've been wondering about cash and have reached the same conclusion - take some pounds and some plastic. Have a good journey and meet you all soon.

 My husband and I will be on the trip, and we're really looking forward to it and to meeting you all tomorrow (we're on the group flight from Heathrow). We are taking plastic, euros and sterling and an extra pair of trousers for the camel ride!
