Hi John, My wife Alex and I are from Cambridgeshire just a tad flat. Wer'e looking forward to our trip in April. We were up the peak district last weekend to get a bit of up and down around Froggat edge and Edale. Are you on Facebook?

Hello Pete and Alex, yes I  have my visa - I filled in the form online, printed it out and made an appointment in Manchester. The "appointment" took all of five minutes, and five days later I recieved it in the post. Have you got yours yet? 

Yes I am on facebook (John McGeough), but do not use it much. Look forward to meeting you, where are you flying out from? I'm going from Birminham to Dubai, and then to Beijing, at least I think I am!

In our daily newspaper the other day (Daily Mail) there were reports of Tanks and Soldiers in Tianamen Square and a coup going on but the govt had suppressed any internet activity going out of China so there were no confirmed reports. Has anyone else heard anything?

There is lots of stuff on Youtube about it, most say it is just a rumour, but lots of long knives behind closed doors. 

Hi John Good to hear from you. We are guessing there are currently 13 on the tour as there are three spaces left and I think the maximum was 16. I am not sure that we are any closer than you. We have a 10 hour flight to Hong Hong and then a 3 hour flight to Beijing. We are looking forward to it have just bought all the gear but not sure whether to dress for cold, warm or hot - it could be any of the above I guess. Look forward to meeting you over Beijing duck! I think I have a 7 hour flight to Dubai, and from there to Beijing god knows. If you follow this link you can see the weather in Beijing, I think it is similar to late spring in the UK, warmish in the day but chilly at night.

I checked with Exodus and you were right, there are 13 in our group, 6 men and 7 women, some in their 20's, most in their 40's and 50's! I just reached 55 so might be the "old codger" of the group!
