First time visit to India for me as well.
Sent off for Visa this week, hopefully back soon. Fingers crossed it doesn't get rejected. ;-)
I'm also getting excited about my overdue trip to india and I'll certainly have time for a social one when flying out from London, haven't flown out of terminal 4 before but I'm asured that there is a Wine bar and a Wetherspoons! Matt
No idea what Weatherspoons is but sounds like a plan : )
Beer at Weatherspoons sounds good to me. How many of us are on this trip?
I am also flying out on the 3rd and on the Group Flight 9W121 although I have booked the flights separately as I am staying on to do another trip.
Ree, Weatherspoons is a British chain of pubs and bars and most High Streets now have one!
I will also hope to be in Terminal 4 at about 530 and I may bring the Exodus kitbag requested for the second trip which is bright green with Exodus printed in large script!
I will look out for you in Weatherspoons.
I think so far, from the various posts for this trip, there are at least 7 or 8 of us, but as it was removed from availability on the Exodus website a while ago there could be 16, the maximum number I think. Exodus usually supply luggage labels so fellow travellers can be identified, although there could be other Exodus trips leaving Heathrow at the same time. Anyway, see you in Weatherspoons or at the Departure Gate!!
Have just checked the temperature and it is looking hot (30s+) - am hoping it might cool down a bit before we set off!
Ill be on this trip too so it looks like there will be at least 9 now! Its my first time with exodus and first time in India as well, can't wait!
I am taking a towel simply because I am going on to a Trek afterwards and have bought a microfleece towel from Sports Direct which is quick drying. That could be useful on the two train journeys. I have checked the first Hotel on the internet and it looks excellent and from previous experience, Exodus uses a good grade of Hotel. You should have received a lifetime baggage label from Exodus and the code is the check-in code which you will require at LHR.
I am taking some US dollars as well as sterling and will also use a credit card if necessary to withdraw funds.
Next Friday Jaipur. See you possibly at Terminal 4 for the Jet flight. This is my 18th trip with Exodus and I can assure the first time passengers that it is an excellent Company.
It says you can check in 24hrs before departure online. Use the bottom code of the 2 that were in the email. You can also use it to select seats. :)
My email doesn't say that I can check in online. Did you do the group flight booking with Exodus? I'll try to call them tomorrow and see if I can get checked in. I'm so excited!! :)
Sarah, if you read down the email about check-in times.
It says: you may be able to check in online for your flight in advance of travel. Not every airline offers this.
Go to jetairways.com
Select Manage Booking to choose the seats: Where it says PNR: Its the Airline Locator code on the email.
This is the same one you use to check-in.
Hope that helps. :)
Thanks for all the tips guys. I also got a microfleece towel from a trek I did last year - its so handy and compact and drys almost instantly! I'm just bringin sterling - assuming visa is acceptable out there?
I am sorry but I am having to withdraw from the visit to India. As you will note from previous postings I had a cycling accident and all was healing fine but I am now in considerable pain in my shoulder and do not feel that it would be sensible to travel. I have today had two MRI scans and on CT scan on my neck and have limited use of my right arm which at times is very painful.
Instead of visiting Jaipur on Friday I shall be at the Shoulder Fracture clinic of the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Have a good trip and I am greatly disappointed that I will not be joining you.
What side of the plane did you pick your seats? I'm on the left.
Sorry to hear that Barry. We'll post our highlights on here.
On your final joining instructions is your Airline locator code the same as your ticket locator code? Mine are identical and when I try to check in online on the Jet Airways website it wont accept the code I am trying to enter, a bit frustrating!
Barry - very sorry to hear you wont be joining us but hope you make a swift recovery...
I'm on the left as well (I think).
Sally-Ann, instead of going to online check in, go to manage book on the jet airways site and put in the airline locator code. It wont let you check in, but you can reserve your seats.
Barry, that is bad news. Really hope you feel get better soon and are able to take off on your adventures.
Meeting at Wetherspoons in departures before security?
I hadn't planned on packing a mack although the forecast is not looking brilliant... Not that it's had any affect on my excitement!!
my flight from Ireland gets in 17:10 so should find my way to Terminal 4 for 17:30 or thereabouts - not overly familiar with Heathrow so may take a little longer : ) excited is an understatment!!!
....there is a bar called The Bridge, hopefully will meet up at Weatherspoons before security, but if miss it, The Bridge is another option?
Yes, weather is looking mixed - the kagool will be coming!!
I have checked the Terminal 4 website and the Wetherspoons pub is before security. As i travel through, i will stop by to see if anyone is there but it probably makes more sense to get through security and then meet at the Bridge.
Barry, sorry to hear you won't be joining us. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thank you for your good wishes, they are much appreciated.
I am hoping for a swift recovery and then travel to Southern India in January to take advantage of my expensive Visa.
Have a good time and e-mail me with your reactions on your return email@example.com
Fingers crossed you'll be speedily on the mend Barry, sorry you won't be joining us.
My train gets into Heathrow at quarter to five ish, so I will loiter around Wetherspoons for a while before making it through security and to The Bridge! Although, without Barry's green kitbag, do we have any identifying features?? I too am Exodus luggage tag-less...
Such a shame Barry, thanks for all your advice and hope you make a full recovery!
Well I look nothing like my profile pic but I'll be carrying a red and grey rucksack if that helps : )
Whats the general feeling - Weatherspoons first or is the plan now to go straight through to The Bridge?
The Bridge it is. I'll be wearing a green Puma t-shirt. :)
