I am going to be in both Masai Mara and Serengeti in Jan 2011 and wondered if anyone could suggest which would be better for doing the balloon ride in?

I did one over the Maasai Mara a couple of years ago, and it was excellent. A 20ft high flight over the ground. Brilliant.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF ITS BETTER TO BOOK THE BALLOONING IN ADVANCE OF THE TRIP OR IS IT JUST AS SIMPLE TO BOOK ONCE THERE

I was on this trip last summer - did the ballooning in the Masai Mara and it was incredible - definately worth it. I only booked it at the last minute so it is possible, but I would advise you to book in advance as we had to go with another company and you couldn't be assured a place

Thanks for the feedback. Think I'm going to book in advance as I don't want to risk missing what appears to be such an unforgettable experience.

both serengeti and masai mara are equally as good, but it is also dependant on what animals are around at the time as to what you may see. being in a balloon will give you an idea of just how big the park is.
definitely book in advance, the balloons are always fully booked and you may be disappointed, if its something you really want to do
