ice axe through airport -
Trip - TNB - MERA PEAK EXPEDITION, Departure Date - Saturday 25th September 2010

I'm off to Mera Peak in the Himalayas in Nepal soon & the trip requires the use of ice-axes.  Does anybody know if it will be alright to bring ice-axes in the main luggage through customs at Kathmandu airport, a small airport in India & Heathrow airport.  I would hate to bring them over & have them confiscated either on the way out or back as they belong to a friend.

Ice Axe -
No need to worry. I have never heard of any problems occurring when our clients check such equipment in ( in their main luggage) at London, Delhi or Kathmandu. At Lukla Airport the entire group's techinical equipment, including ice axes ,will be checked in separately by the staff on the trek.
