Jo'burg to Capetown on 4th Feb -
Trip - AZJ - JOHANNESBURG TO CAPE TOWN, Departure Date - Sunday 5th February 2012

Hi - I'm booked on the Jo'burg to Capetown trip departing 4th Feb, along with my partner Steve. We've started packing! or at least, I have. Looking forward to this hugely - who are we travelling with, I wonder?

Cathy

Joburg to Cape Town -

Hi, so are we. Can't wait. Wouldn't say we've started packing quite yet but there's a heap of stuff ready to go. It's myself and my wife Sally. From what I gather there a wide age span which is great and its also full. Lots of new friends to meet.

Excellent! look forward to -

Excellent! look forward to meeting you both - and the others.

Joberg to cape Town -
Cathy How are you doing on the malaria tablets? According to us and our gp's reckoning we don't need cover for the whole tour. It's the first bit. We going for malarone and think we need about 17 days worth starting on the Friday before we travel. What are your thoughts? Bill Whatley

Joberg to cape town 4th feb -

Hi, my husband Alan & I are going too. Getting excited. We've got malarone for the first bit. If its anything like our last exodus trip to vietnam it will be fab. Looking forward to meeting you all.

anti - malarials -

I'm waiting for my GP's verdict on the antimalarials - I've to ring "later today or tomorrow", so will update then. I don't fancy taking any more than I have to!

Judith - pleased to hear you enjoyed Vietnam. Steve and I went a few years ago - with Exodus - and it remains one of our most memorable holidays ever.

anti-malarials - the result -

I've been given Mefloquine: a once-a-week tablet (potential for forgetting to take it: high). I've been instructed to start taking it 3 weeks in advance of the hols (by the GP) and 1 week in advance (by the nice young pharmacist) - I'm going for the latter; plus the 3 weeks of the holiday (yes, I know...); and then a further 4 weeks after the return home. Hey ho!

Plus the updated typhoid, of course: feverish symptoms now eagerly awaited :(

anti-malarials -

Interesting that you're having the Lariam. We both had Typhoid booster as well. Gave us both arm ache for a day or 2. Can't wait to discuss future holidays with you all. Can't quite make up my mind where to go next so may need a  bit of help deciding !

what do you know that we don't? -
Bill - you said that "the trip is full, wide range of ages" - how do you know that? I used to get a traveller list shortly before the holiday started, but haven't the past time or two. What are you looking at?

by the way - a thought -

When we went with Exodus to kenya some years agao we did a 4 day Walk with the Masai, where we stayed in what I guess would be "fully serviced camps" - ie the porters put up our tents every night, cooked food etc. The memorable meal of that particular bit was the freshly killed, partially cooked goat that comprised dinner round the campfire one night.

We plan to take snacks on this trip - granola bars etc.

What do I know -
Hi Cathy I'm not sure that it's particularly clever but on the dates and prices window it shows the status of a tour. I was looking to see how full it was when I booked and a few weeks after we'd booked i saw it was full. I actually booked by phone and at the time asked For a rough demographic profile and was told about the age spread then. I made a mistake a few years ago when we went to china and booked online. I was looking forward to meeting a dozen or so fellow travellers but when we had our 'group' meeting the 1st day it turned out that we had one 20 year old girl. I check now...... Bill Whatley

Mozambique Visas -

Hi All -  I'm looking forward to this trip - travelling with Cathy who has posted above.   Just thought I'd let you know that I went into the Mozambique embassy last week to get our visas.   All very easy - if can get to London - twice. Took 3 days and costs £40.00 each  - No waiting , no hassle.   Pleased to have got that bit of admin done.    We fly two weeks today - looking forward to meeting you all.

7 more sleeps!!! -
I am traveling with my husband, Shawn and mom, Dawn and we are getting very excited!! This is our first trip with Exodus and to Africa. Our travel clinic also recomended that we take malerone. It seems a bit complicated as we are traveling to Zanzibar after the tour but I think we've got it figured out. We are coming from BC Canada so will join you all in Joburg on the 5th. Looking forward to meeting you then!! Krista Foster

Nearly Time!! -
Not started packing yet. Know it would be very useful to plan and pack our bags according to the order of travel, but suspect I will be disorganised as usual, much more fun! Looking forward to it though. Krista, sounds as though your trip will be action-packed. See you all soon ... Judith
